While our Hot & Cold Numbers article focuses on the extremes, this one covers the complete statistical picture: exactly what does LottoAnalyzer calculate from historical draw data — and how do you read these numbers correctly?
📊 The data basis: Straight from the database
All statistics aren't loaded from static CSV files — they're calculated live from the database. Every new draw automatically flows into every analysis, with no manual updates needed.
🌍 System-specific configuration for all 23 lotteries
Each system has its own stored parameters that feed into every calculation:
| System | Main numbers | Bonus numbers |
|---|---|---|
| Lotto 6aus49 | 6 of 49 | Superzahl 0-9 |
| EuroJackpot | 5 of 50 | 2 Euro numbers of 12 |
| EuroMillions | 5 of 50 | 2 Lucky Stars of 12 |
| Austria Lotto | 6 of 45 | Extra number of 45 |
| Irish Lotto | 6 of 45 (until Sept 2026: 6 of 47) | Bonus number from the same pool |
| UK Lotto | 6 of 59 | Bonus ball of 59 |
| El Gordo | 5 of 54 | Reintegro 0-9 |
| Bonoloto | 6 of 49 | Complementario + Reintegro |
| Powerball | 5 of 69 | Powerball of 26 |
| Mega Millions | 5 of 70 | Mega Ball of 24 (until April 2025: 25) |
📋 These metrics LottoAnalyzer calculates
For each system individually:
- Total number of draws — how many historical records are available
- Last draw date — timestamp of the most recent draw
- Average sum — mean of the sum of all main numbers drawn per draw
- Hot & Cold Numbers — top 6 / bottom 6 of the frequency distribution
- Top 10 / bottom 10 — extended frequency rankings
- Frequency table (top 20) — detailed distribution of the 20 most frequent main numbers
- Bonus number frequency (top 10) — separate analysis for Superzahl, Euro numbers, etc.
- Next draw — automatically calculated date of the upcoming draw
🧮 What does "average sum" mean?
This metric adds up all main numbers drawn in a draw and averages that across the entire history. For Lotto 6aus49 (numbers 1-49), the purely mathematically expected average would be around 150 (6 numbers × mean of 25). Large deviations over many draws would be statistically notable — in practice the value settles close to the expected value, as expected.
💾 Performance: Caching system
Since recalculating all metrics across a large number of historical draws would be computationally expensive, LottoAnalyzer uses a caching system for statistics results. The cache is cleared specifically when new draws come in, so the numbers stay current.
