🏛️ History

Lotto 6/49 was introduced in 1982 by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation and was Canada's first lottery to offer free number selection and uncapped jackpots. Since September 2022, the Gold Ball add-on draw guarantees a raffle prize of at least CA$1 million.

🎲 How Canada Lotto Works

You choose 6 main numbers from 1 to 49. Additionally, a bonus number is drawn from the same pool (after the main numbers, so no overlap is possible). A ticket costs CA$3.00. Draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday at around 10:30pm Eastern Time.

✅ Tipp:

The bonus number only matters for 5 matches and for 2 matches. With 4 or 3 matches, you win the relevant division regardless of the bonus number. With only 2 matches and no bonus, you get a free play ticket instead of cash.

❓ FAQ

Can I play from Germany?

Official participation is through the retailers and platforms of the lottery's home country. Courier services buy tickets for players abroad; check beforehand whether this is permitted in your country.

What happens with only 2 matches and no bonus number?

You don't win cash, but a free play ticket for the next draw.

Why doesn't the bonus number matter for every prize division?

With 4 or 3 matches, Canada Lotto pays out regardless of the bonus number. Only with 5 or 2 matches does the bonus number decide a higher prize division.
