Australia's national lottery
Oz Lotto launched in 1994 as the first Australia-wide lottery, aiming to compete with the big international jackpots. Originally 6 of 45 numbers, later expanded to 7 main numbers. Since May 2022 numbers are drawn from 47 instead of 45, with 3 supplementary numbers instead of the previous 2. Since March 2026 the minimum jackpot is AU$4 million instead of AU$3 million.
You choose 7 main numbers from 1 to 47. Additionally, 3 supplementary numbers are drawn from the same pool (after the main numbers, so no overlap is possible). A ticket costs approx. AU$1.45. Draws take place every Tuesday at around 8:30pm Australian time.
| Match | Prize |
|---|---|
| 7 correct | Jackpot (ab AU$ 4 Mio.) |
| 6 correct + Supplementary | Gewinnklasse 2 |
| 6 correct | Gewinnklasse 3 |
| 5 correct + Supplementary | Gewinnklasse 4 |
| 5 correct | Gewinnklasse 5 |
| 4 correct | Gewinnklasse 6 |
| 3 correct + Supplementary | Gewinnklasse 7 |
The 3 supplementary numbers matter for prize divisions 2, 4 and 7. With 4 main numbers (Division 6) you always win, regardless of the supplementary numbers. With only 3 main numbers (Division 7) you need at least one matching supplementary number to win at all.

Official participation is through the retailers and platforms of the lottery's home country. Courier services buy tickets for players abroad; check beforehand whether this is permitted in your country.
3 extra numbers from the same pool as the main numbers (1-47), drawn after the 7 main numbers. They're needed for prize divisions 2, 4 and 7.
Division 7 (3 correct numbers) additionally requires at least one matching supplementary number. Without it, a ticket with 3 correct numbers wins nothing — unlike 4 correct numbers (Division 6), which always wins.
